Fire Reflection 1 (name pending) Kaden
The fire, as I was heading back to my campsite in the National Forest adjacent to the reservation when I noticed a red glow in the distance and I had a local fire radio so there was nothing about a fire. I had a gut feeling it was a new start and it was big because of the wind rate so I started driving towards the area and on my way I could hear the roar of the intensity and the ash went from falling to I was in a zone of clarity before the flames crested about 10 miles from where I was located at an old fire lookout point.
It was about 12:30am, and seeing that type of fire activity and knowing the land & geography I knew it was going to make a run for the reservation town of Birney. I messaged my fire buddies and council representatives to make them aware of the fire. Which we found out started in Wyoming and made a wind driving run towards our area.
In sending messages to emergency officials on my reservation, we were able to get started on getting tribal resources to that community in threat and when the fire crested the hills across the valley. Emergency officials and tribal officials made the decision to, Go Offensive, and for the first time in decades, sent tribal resources off the reservation across the valley to conduct an burning operations to stop the fire from advancing towards Birney Community. This was in collaboration with USFS on the spot as they did not know about the fire til 12:30-1:00am as well. Kaden WalksNice
